Dimensions of Sprocket

Sprockets might be classified into standard sprockets, HK sprockets as well as other sprockets.
one. Typical sprocket
Standard sprockets are ANSI sprockets which may be engaged with standard series roller chains. See P125 for dimensions.
There are actually two varieties of tooth profiles: U-tooth and S-tooth.
two. HK sprocket
HK sprockets is often engaged with HK series roller chains, and these for single strand chains are identical to conventional sprockets. Nevertheless, sprockets for multiple strand chains are different from common sprockets in sprocket tooth profile.
3. Other sprockets
Other sprockets are created according for the following calculation formulas to suit respective specialty chains.
The sprockets utilised for that following chains would be the similar since the common sprockets in tooth gap kind, but various in tooth thickness (sprocket tooth profile).
4. Calculation of sprocket dimensions
The dimensions of conventional sprockets and also other standard sprockets are calculated as follows. Initially, the diameters of sprockets are calculated from the following calculation formulas.
Following, sprocket tooth profile (the form in the tooth determined by its thickness) is calculated through the following calculation formulas. (The values shown during the following pages had been calculated by these formulas and thought to be the common values.)
Calculation formulas for diameters and tooth gap kinds Calculation formulas for diameters
Calculation of pitch diameter, tip diameter and caliper diameter
The essential dimensions of a sprocket suitable to get a chain pitch of 1 mm are respectively known as pitch diameter aspect, tip diameter element and caliper diameter issue. The respective components for respective numbers of teeth are listed beneath. If these things are multiplied by chain pitch, the basic dimensions of the corresponding sprocket is usually obtained.
While in the situation of 80 (25.40 mm pitch) with 35 teeth Pitch diameter (Dp) = P×Pitch diameter element
Calculation formulas for tooth gap varieties
Since the most rational tooth gap types during which the pressure angle changes in response on the elongation of the smoothly rotated roller chain with the lapse of services time, ANSI specify two types of tooth profiles: U-type and S-type. On the whole, S-type tooth profiles are adopted in accordance with ANSI, and our standard sprockets also have S-tooth profiles.
